“Malmö Pride wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New 2023! Thank you for all the support 2022 and for being part in making this important festival a forum and platform for the LGBTQIA+community in Scania, Sweden. We are happy to deliver a Christmas-gift to you this year, following December’s “Throwback-Christmas Calendar” and let you into the Legacy Page from WorldPride 2021. This is a project in process and will be updated further in 2023 so welcome to check back from time to time. We hope you will find joy in remembrance of a worldevent that managed to take place throughout a pandemic.” ________________________________________________________ In 2021, WorldPride was for the very first time divided between two countries at the same time. The close proximity between Malmö and Copenhagen, with its easily accessed public transport and countries is unique. Therefore, it was a natural decision to continue the already established collaboration with Copenhagen Pride (Happy Copenhagen) and co-host the worlds biggest LGBTQIA+event. Although the planning and delivery of WorldPride was challenging due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the festival took place against all odds and managed to deliver 650 events in the programme (and this only in the Malmö-section). Thousands of people joined in on the digital livestreams and nearly 30 000 people have been educated in questions regarding the LGBTQIA+-community. During WorldPride, the city was filled with art, decoration and happenings. Approximately 500 volunteers were active before, during and after the festival becoming a unifying platform for all organisations in Malmö.
